Funny picture sequence

I'm bad at deleting my old pictures from my memory card. I'll admit it. But THIS was a funny sequence I found on another camera....

The first is our first summer home after getting married.

Then about 5 pictures later...

Here we are in Vancouver with 2 kids.

Wow. That was fast!

Time flies when you are having fun (and when your camera card holds all your pictures!)

Another summer

I have about 1000 other images to get to, but considering that my real camera is in a sleeping baby's room, I'll post this image from my video camera.

Summer at Cranberry Lake. Josie and I went out for a final guide boat ride before leaving for Ohio on Friday. We had a wonderful week with family and friends. We enjoyed the lake, the great food, the time spent with family. It's so nice to be surrounded and supported by those you love.

Across the Continent

flying with 3 seats, 2 children and 1 flight from Vancouver to Ottawa, we're home in NY. Enjoying the quiet of the 100 acre woods. Enjoying my parents "real" garden this morning in the early hours. Just harvested loads of yellow squash, zucchini, beans, beets, broccoli and basil. We're here for the week and the fresh veggies will be welcome to feed our ever growing family. We'll be staying with my parents, my brothers and their families for a week at camp. Should be fun with the exponentially growing family!

things I need to remember about my kids when they are toddlers

I'm realizing that these kids are "growing up so fast", and I'm probably forgetting all the funny things they do now-- even when at the time that I'm laughing I think I'll remember and write it down. I probably won't though. So here's an attempt at a running list of those funny things that go down in history.

Josie singing "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and shouting out the line "dried up all the rain" over and over again. Especially endearing when it's raining out and we want the rain to go away!

Asher playing peek-a-boo with his crib, ducking and and coming up to see those in his room with hysterical laughter

Josie calling us up to her room again and again after we've put them to bed because "Asher is laughing". Apparently it prevents her sleep.

Both kids doing their own dancing jigs to any music. Even more funny when they are doing them to get ice cream (like what happened today at Cold Stone)

Asher crawing as fast as he can toward the water. Any water. His surprise when that water is cold.

The kids in the tub. SPLASHING everywhere and laughing hysterically. Josie dumping water on Asher's head and Asher diving into the water on his own accord.

Biting the Dust

This is a post a little similar to this one. I hope this kind of posting doesn't become a common occurrence!

I think the last time I had a serious ankle injury was in high school soccer. Maybe during my time in the outback hiking.. I can't recall. But here I am with an ace bandage on my left foot, a big raspberry scratch on my right lower leg, and cuts on the palms of my hands. Unfortunately and rather embarrassingly, there was no good or even understandable reason I fell.

I was jogging in the woods on a well groomed gravel trail. Dave was in front of me and we passed a Chinese couple who were out for their morning walk and stretch. I recognized the particular back-beating exercises from behind and turned to say "Good Morning" in Chinese as I passed them. I didn't get beyond the "good" because I rolled my ankle, did a dive in front of the man, rolled on the gravel at his feet and came up bruised and battered. He helped me up and said "God Bless You". Thanks man. I needed that.

I always need a blessing. His wife gave me a tissue to help get the gravel out of my bloody hands and leg. Kindness on the path. An unexpected blessing when you are out of sorts.

Dave and I were at the beach a couple of weeks ago and walking toward our car when we turned around to see a bike and trailer lying on the ground and woman laying in the middle of the road. It was behind us so I didn't know if she was hit by a car or what happened. Dave and I ran back to the accident, and helped the woman get out of the road. We had a first aid kit in the car and helped her get the blood off her face and bandage up a few wounds. Apparently the brakes on the bike had locked up and sent her sprawling. She was thankful for the help, but you could tell a little embarrassed. We were thankful to be there to help, and not embarrassed at all.

I'm a little sore today and not able to bear weight on my foot. It doesn't seem broken though. I'll be in need of help as I'm teaching a cooking class today while Dave has class. It might be time to get to know my neighbors a little better yet again and ask for some help:) It's nothing like needing help to push you out of your comfort zone! But isn't that how we all are? In need of a blessing? In need of help? In need?

Maybe I just need to be reminded of that.

The Joys

of picking dinner right out of the garden. I think this will go in a salad with beets, nuts, pears and a fresh berry balsamic dressing.
Not to mention that all the greens going in this salad will also be from the garden.
Dinner anyone?

Tea Paaarty

"Mommy, I'm going to have a tea paaarty" -- this is what Josie says when she's about to go into the little haven in the nearby cedar trees and play. The added bonus is if our neighbor also wants to play with her. A year older and wiser, Alfonsina is a wonderful influence on Josie and attempts to explain to her how to share, play, and behave in general. Our little "older sister" need an older sister herself and "Sina" plays the role perfectly.
And they have lots of fun together.
Loads
er
Right after I took these photos, Asher woke up and we all got together for a "reading party tea party" and read Where The Wild Things Are.

If you ask me, they're right here!

Balugas and the Beach

A little better view of our day at Stanley Park!

snapshots

We've had a pretty full and fun week. I could spend days blogging all about it, but that's hard to do with two little munchkins gnawing at the computer cords under my feet. Snapshots will have to suffice.

cute Dada and daughter shots

Canada Day at Granville Island

Amazing rock balancing art at False Creek

These huge rocks are balanced on a point. The images can't do the amazing view justice.

Walks along English Bay

Playing in the garden. Asher has discovered the fine taste of dirt.

Josie has discovered the joy of "washing my dinner"

Playing peek a boo at the table

Going to Stanley Park and spending the day at the Aquarium and Beach

I just did the Grouse Grind with my mom's exercise class last night! Holy Cow. Now that's a challenge. Puts into perspective just how much further I have to go to actually be "fit"! A gorgeous view of Vancouver at the top though when we finished!
