productivity?

I woke up this morning with a desire to be productive today. I feel like that's my desire every morning, but when I hardly sleep at night, I feel mostly like I walk through my days in a daze. But, this morning was different. Josie slept from 11 to 4 am-- and let me tell you, when you can get 5 hours of sleep in a row- wow- what a good amount of sleep! It's hard to believe I am saying this now, as I used to think I needed 8-9 hours of uninterrupted sleep before- ha! I don't even know what that means anymore!

So, with this "productive day" in front of me I got busy moving things around, my clothes to a downstairs bedroom because I've found that Dave, Josie and I can't all fit into my brother's old room with all of our stuff (surprise surprise). And by my clothes I mean clothes that fit, which in reality is only the clothes I've purchased this summer. I still have to find storage for about all of my waredrobe.... bummer... (c'mon pregnancy body, get back in shape!)

But productivity doesn't last long with a baby. It's like "move a pile, put in a load of laundry, rock the baby who's started to cry, put the baby down, fold clothes, feed the baby..." and before you know it, it's 1 pm and I'm still in my pj's, still wearing glasses and Dave is to town and back again and wondering about lunch. Go figure, I'm not that productive!

But, once we got lunch and I at least put in contact lenses, we made it outside with Jos in the swing to scrub the deck (Dave) and weed the garden and pick veggies for tonight's lentil burgers and salad (me). And stack wood, clean the hot tub, cut back branches blocking the driveway, pile wood, do more laundry, make dinner and oh yeah, rock, feed and coddle the baby- at least she likes helping me fold the laundry! And of course fit a nap in the grass with my daughter under the apple tree. You gotta love lying under a tree in the late afternoon with the sun coming through the leaves and a bright blue sky above.

Believe it or not, there's going to be a possible frost tonight, and because we now live in the country and have a garden that means covering our 49 tomato plants (yes! 49! We will be making and canning tomatoes and sauce for a full time job pretty soon!) So grandpa covered the tomatoes and finished up the night with a story to the baby... he's a pretty good story teller--especially when it comes to making animal noises!
It's been a full day and I think I should take this opportunity when I have a sleeping baby to go to bed. It's 10:30 and I can't know if she will sleep for 1 hour or 4. I'm hoping for the latter.

A frost??? You're kidding... its August. I don't remember it being THAT bad up there. As for productivity... that's the way it goes. I literally have a list of cleaning jobs that I can do in 10 minutes or less- when I get a spare minute, I run to the list and pick one to do. :->
